Execution Trader, Fixed Income & Protected Growth

Job Description

Our client, a specialist investment manager with over $120 billion in AUM, is seeking an execution trader to deal in fixed income and derivatives, primarily those securities related to investment grade corporate bonds across the energy, utilities, telecom, transportation, and consumer goods industries.
Working with the fixed income portfolio managers, the Protected Growth team (equity derivatives trading and risk management) and the Multi-Asset Group (active asset-allocation strategists), the trader will be a key member of the Fixed Income Dealing Team. This role will provide the team’s access to liquidity during the US and late European timezones in the fixed income, currency and equity derivatives markets, principally supporting the portfolio management team working from the Sydney office.

-Act as a trader for physical credit and credit derivative securities, equity volatility OTC and ETO derivatives and futures, manage portfolio manager orders, stops, take profit levels, delta management and other contingent orders in these markets.
-Support the trading activities, portfolio management activities and reporting needs of the Fixed Income and Protected Growth team
-Act as a back-up dealer for forex and global equities.
-Extract, understand and communicate market behavior for the benefit of all members of Protected Growth and Fixed Income, feeding this into their investment processes. -Achieve best execution across multiple markets, differing liquidities and intermediaries.
-Effectively utilize and maintain Protected Growth and Fixed Income’s existing array of key partners.
-Work within a large team, building relationships with the Heads of Protected Growth, Heads of Fixed Income teams, and other analysts, to provide a critical element of the portfolio management capability.
-Add input and relevant expertise to research projects undertaken by the Fixed Income team

-3 years of experience in relevant market trading and analysis.
-Working knowledge of fixed income instruments, concepts and markets (including corporate credit, swap and government markets), including execution, pricing and market drivers
-Working knowledge of OTC and ETO derivatives, option markets and option concepts including pricing and market drivers.
-Knowledge of foreign exchange and fixed income instruments such as FX spots, forwards, NDFs would also be an advantage.
-Strong quantitative skills including a good knowledge of excel and statistical analysis techniques.
-Ability to work well under pressure and be organized and efficient.
-Ability to interpret trading instructions accurately.
-Understanding of market conventions and protocols.
-Team player, attention to detail and gives special attention to accuracy. -Maintain relationships and networks both across the firm and the external market. -Extract information from counterparties and feed that information into the portfolio management teams.
