Commodities Portfolio Manager/Sr Analyst

We are looking to hire a portfolio manager to join the commodities investment group. The portfolio currently employs a quantitative investment strategy and the firm is therefore looking to hire someone who will bring a quant-oriented investment skill set.

Principal Responsibilities:

While a sitting portfolio manager would be ideal, it is by no means essential that his person have experience of managing a portfolio or bring a track record of performance with them. This person may come from a variety of backgrounds:

Commodities portfolio manager or analyst
Managed futures trader
Commodities prop trader (but only if they¡¦re more long-term in their investment style)
Quant portfolio manager (equities or fixed income)

Competencies for success/requirements:

Have good quant skills. Must be able to read and develop models, be adept at building a modeling capability for the team.
Be focused on portfolio construction and long-term fundamental investing, as opposed to day trading.
Have a focus on risk control and portfolio positioning.

In terms of the performance and personal competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following:

Business Acumen

Have a long-term, ¡¥quantamental¡¦, disciplined approach to investing ¡V they must understand fundamental investing but have operated as a quant investor Have a passion for investing, be hungry yet prudent regarding new portfolio ideas and display deep conviction which may well be contrary to consensus Strong academic credentials which ideally include an advanced degree from a top-tier institution and a CFA.

Setting Strategy

Be a self starter who can create a strong vision for the fund Given that this role will be to enhance and improve upon the quant architecture of the commodities fund, it is important that this person be able to communicate complex ideas to others
Must be a mature professional who can operate at a high level in an autonomous environment, but who enjoys operating as part of a group.

Executing for Results

Operate in a hands-on, engaged fashion, conducting original research as well as utilizing research produced by the team
Maintain a well informed view on the global capital markets and the global economy.

Building Relationships and Using Influence

Have a client service orientation and communication style with a willingness to visit with clients.
