Crude Oil Trader

Description: Crude oil trader will secure crude oil for the Smackover refinery and build a new sustainable business of strategic value to Martin.
•Source, develop and manage domestic and international supplier relationships to ensure uninterrupted crude oil supply.

•Evaluate and document economics of available crudes. (supply curve)

•Establish and sustain relations with key suppliers and counterparties.

•Negotiate contracts for purchase.

•Coordinate logistical arrangements to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of crude shipments.

Responsibility:
•Profit Center Leader- Responsible for the profit and loss of a physical crude oil trading book based upon the buying and selling of crude oil and related products.

Expectations:
•Develop corporate knowledge specific to crude logistics, crude logistics, crude qualities, supply chains and refinery economics to identify actionable trades and source targets.

•Establish and sustain relations with key suppliers and counterparties.

•Negotiate contracts for purchase and sale of crude within limits of authority and risk management policies.

•Support trading strategies by using fundamental model analysis or trades with reputable counterparties that are back to back in nature.

•Manage risk management strategies to support crude activities.

•Coordinate logistical arrangement to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of crude shipments.

Responsibility:
•Identify and advance strategies that provide long term value to other Martin entities by leveraging Martin’s core capabilities.


Expectations:
•Develop a point of view on potential opportunities for processing, storing and blending.

•Utilize Martin’s core operating capabilities of truck, marine, trans-load and terminal services to build the crude book.
 RequirementsThis position requires a minimum of a four year degree from an accredited college or university, or an amount of specific related experience deemed sufficient by management.
