Active Trader VIP Specialist

VIP Traders own the development, retention, and loyalty of Fidelity's highest value retail brokerage clients.   They are responsible for driving client success, loyalty, relationship breadth and business metrics associated with a team based relationship offering for HNW Active Traders.

Trading Services
  • Execute trades for Fidelity's most sophisticated, demanding, and valuable HNW Active Traders and Semi-Professional trading clients.
  • Provide supporting service and sell the value and applicability of Fidelity's entire Active Trader Product Suite: Active Trader Pro, Wealth Lab Pro, Options    Trader Pro and all Fidelity.com tools.
  • Assist clients in executing complex option strategies.
  • Facilitate international trading and currency conversions/exchanges.
  • Aid clients in researching, placing, and structuring Fixed Income trades across a spectrum of available products and time horizons.
  • Support RVP/DVP, Prime Broker and Executing Broker services.
  • Support Block Allocation (BTAM) trading for select clients.
  • Work closely with NFS and Fidelity Capital Markets. 
Client Experience/Relationship Management
  • Drive operational efficiency and service model scalability.  Maintain high CSL and availability levels
  • Leverage service excellence in deepening client loyalty, share of wallet, breadth of product relationship with Fidelity and client engagement in life-stage planning 
  • Maintain an acute awareness of competitor's product, guidance, service, pricing, and execution offerings for VIP profile relationships Position and leverage the Fidelity Value proposition to enhance  client retention and uncover sales opportunities
  • Always exhibit professionalism, promptness and courtesy when dealing with clients.
  • Drive client satisfaction and loyalty as measured by CEI and net promoter scores.   
  • Excel at delivering advanced product, trading, and risk guidance.
  • Ownership of all client service issues at point of contact, working closely with business partners as needed to expedite accurate resolution of client service items.
  • Proactive client contact to provide a relationship checkpoint in addressing client needs.
  • Client on boarding outreach, highlighting the benefits of the Fidelity VIP service model, and providing clients with rep & team points of contact.
  • Effectively position the voice of the client with key product and service business partners via internal relationships, Value Network, Fidelity Spaces, etc.
  • Engage clients with value added market information including leveraging internal resources such as Fidelity Viewpoints.
  • Ownership and negotiation of competitive pricing positioning against competitors for clients in the VIP team book.
Margin and Risk Management
  • Assist clients in understanding and managing risks inherent in such activities as margin borrowing, leveraged products and short selling.
  • Demonstrate due diligence skills specific to non-individual account registrations such as trading partnerships and LLC.  Position clients on the appropriate platform: Retail, RIA or FCM-Prime Services
  • Maintain a proactive risk management mindset; Lead coordination of risk management actions and communication among all internal stakeholders with regard to clients in the VIP team book
  • Develop and maintain business partner credibility with the NFS Margin, NFS Risk, and PI Risk Departments in deciding on and implementing appropriate risk mitigation measures for managing client relationship.
  • Responsible for working with the desk margin representative in addressing the team's maintenance calls and risk issues.
  • Deliver technical expertise, appropriate enforcement and education specific to all aspects of Cash Account and Day-Trading Regulations:  82 (Pattern Day Trader) Restrictions, 81 (Day Trading) restrictions and 91 ($/Sec in account) restrictions.   Proactively advise clients of open day trade calls, minimum equity calls, good faith violations and day-trader designations.
  • Minimize transactional risk exposure through accuracy, effective trading habits, and skilled dispute resolution.
  • Serve as client advocacy liaison in escalating appropriate margin requirement exception review situations.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in point of contact risk mitigation and trade dispute resolution.
Business Partner Support
  • Work closely with Active Trader Sales, Phone and Branch Distribution business partners in providing business acceptance and risk vetting for clients and/or prospects with exception product needs such as Prime Brokerage, BTAM, etc.
  • Support Active Trader Sales by up-selling VIP team services to appropriate HNW prospects that fit the VIP as Hub model profile.  Engage as a subject matter expert with Active Trader Sales regarding VIP qualified prospects as needed.
  • Deliver subject matter expertise, advice, and positioning guidance specific to pricing and service negotiations requisite for client sales or retention.
Business Development
  • Assist clients in consolidating assets, trading & brokerage activity at Fidelity.  Identify and directly close additional trading, equity/ETF, and fix income asset flows.
  • Accountability to client development and retention goals.
  • Identify and generate leads & referrals for the Fidelity HNW product suite including Broad Financial Planning and other Lifetime Solutions. 
  • Leverage VIP client loyalty and satisfaction in soliciting new PI household referrals.
  • Leverage client management tools such as Book of Business to identify outbound relationship development opportunities triggered by investment or life events.
Guidance
  • Act as a liaison in working closely with clients and product subject matter experts to influence implementation of guidance plans.
  • Articulate the benefit of Fidelity's guidance offering and product breadth.
  • Engage customers in high level planning and asset allocation discussions using the Portfolio Review tool. 
  • Provide clients with navigational support and guidance for Fidelity's on-line brokerage offering inclusive of tools, functionality, platforms & features to help in making their trading and investing experience more successful.

  • Drive industry-leading HNW client service differentiation.
  • Deliver non-trading services such as funds disbursements, journals, quotes, news and account information as appropriate.
  • Drive positive impact on team client satisfaction and loyalty metrics.

  • Participation in special projects as the opportunity arises, such as outbound phone call initiatives, sales campaigns, and product focus groups.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide work overflow support for the Active Trader Services Senior Trader role.
 RequirementsEducation and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of trading experience in equities and options
  • Must be able to work well on a trading team in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid understanding of U.S. and International capital markets structures and regulations, particularly in the Over the Counter and Exchange markets for both equities and options
  • Series 7 & 63 required. Series 4 (preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment)
  • Bachelors Degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to obtain professional designations such as CFA, CFP, CTA
Skills and Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of: Margin account requirements & margin processing, Options trading, strategies, risk analysis, and processing (especially pricing, exercises, and assignments)
  • Excellent interpersonal and phone-based communication skills
  • Exhibited assertiveness, leadership, and influence skills
  • Advanced knowledge of appropriate securities industry regulations as well as internal policies applicable to securities trading and sales
