The
Commodities Trader Assistant’s primary role is to support the
Commodities Trader so that the Trader can sustain and increase the
business’ profitably. The Commodities Trader Assistant will coordinate
the overall order process, learn the business and industry to protect
the company’s interests, and supply excellent customer/supplier support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
§ Establish and maintain effective two-way communication with the Trader/Merchandiser
§ Maintain efficient and effective communication with customers and suppliers
o Work with merchandising team and suppliers to resolve product issues
o Serve as a liaison between merchandiser(s) and other operational functions
§ Coordinate the movement of commodities under the Trader’s direction
o Enter and process orders efficiently in the company’s grain accounting system
o Coordinate with Transportation department and other parties involved with commodity movement.
§ Collect information and documents from outside sources needed to confirm shipments and invoice the customer
§ Enter contracts as needed and monitor contract application
§ Become fully versed on railroad freight tariff and fuel surcharge schedule and appropriate application to purchase and sales contracts.
Bachelors’s degree in Business / Ag Business, or equivalent work experience. Three years related industry experience is desirable.

§ Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
§ Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
§ Excellent communication, both verbal and written
§ Service orientation
§ Demonstrated predisposition for Quality, Integrity and Reliability
§ Demonstrated problem solving skills
§ Computer Literacy
o MS Office – Excel, Access and Word
o ERP or integrated grain accounting or computing system

- Monitor credit status of customer accounts
- Other duties may be assigned.
