The Alternative Investment Management team focuses on researching and developing investment products and services, employing the highest quality alternative investment managers in both hedge fund of funds portfolios and private equity multi-manager funds.

The Senior Portfolio Manager will be the primary investment professional interface for our institutional and retail distribution and marketing efforts.  He/she will also work our private client group in the marketing of services directly to high net worth clients. The SPM will work with our sales advisors in developing relationships with institutions, retail distributors and consultants, providing in-depth discussion of the performance, portfolio positioning, investment process and market outlook of our hedge fund of funds and private equity portfolios.

We anticipate that the SPMs’ time will include at least 50% in client-facing activities.  The role will include working with our marketing, product development, legal and operations functions to develop new products as well as tailor our services to individual client needs.

Los Angeles, California, USA preferred, flexible to New York.  The role is likely to involve significant travel: the successful candidate must be prepared to spend about 50% of their time traveling.

The ideal candidate will have five to ten years’ experience in the investment management industry with at least 3 years specific experience with alternative investments including hedge funds.  Prior marketing experience is a plus.  Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must.  Successful SPMs must display:
  • Deep and broad knowledge of capital markets including equity, fixed income, real estate, private equity, currency and commodities
  • Broad understanding of alternative investment strategies including the full array of both hedge fund strategies and private equity
  • Successful achievement of results in a complex, team-based environment
