Vanguard, one of the world's largest investment management companies and
a recognized employer of choice, seeks a trader to handle all aspects
of complex and large block orders requested by clients. In this role,
you¿ll minimize risk by maintaining a high level of knowledge of
investment products, policies, and procedures. You¿ll also act as a
technical resource for management and crew within and outside the
department.
Your primary duties and responsibilities will include:
-Interacting
with clients who wish to place complex and large block orders for
domestic & foreign equities, options, ETFs, and other investments;
educating clients on market dynamics (volatility, order types,
size/volume) to ensure the clients' orders receive the best execution.
-Handling
client orders that require additional regulatory reporting, i.e. ESOPs,
restricted, and control person (144) stock sales.
-Maintaining a
solid understanding of international equity markets; must be able to
communicate to clients all of the applicable taxes, commissions, and
currency conversion risks associated with foreign markets.
-Handling
complex option orders, i.e. spreads, straddles, collars, etc; must also
be able to educate clients on complex option strategies and be a
resource for the department for all option questions.
-Minimizing
risk by maintaining a high level of knowledge of market structure,
investment complexities, and Vanguard Brokerage Services (VBS) policies
and procedures.
-Developing and maintaining relationships with market centers and other vendors for the benefit of VBS and its clients.
-Assisting
the team and management in resolving trade system outages by mitigating
market exposure, reducing risk to the business, and offering guidance
on appropriate contingency actions.
-Identifying trends and working independently as well as with others to improve the Trading processes and procedures.
-Contributing
to a positive and productive environment; coaching less-tenured crew
with complex order entry; continually striving to assist the team and
individual peers in meeting departmental goals.
-Participating and/or leading special projects and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
-An undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
-A minimum of three years¿ industry work experience.
-FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions involving high-risk situations under demanding conditions.
-Knowledge of securities industry.
-Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem solving abilities.
-Flexibility and excellent time management skills.
-May be required to work extended hours due to business needs and/or market factors.
