Associate Sales Trader

Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to generate sales/commission revenues by providing marketing and sales support of fixed income investments.  Detailed instructions, procedures and guidelines are provided to perform routine tasks with limited decision making responsibility. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts or information.  Resolves routine questions and problems and refers new or unusual issues to a higher level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in providing marketing and trading support to Financial Advisors.  
  • Answers telephones for quotes, orders and information.
  • Assists in responding to inquiries from Financial Advisors about the department's investment philosophies, products and services. 
  • Assists with the dissemination of timely marketing materials for fixed income products and services targeted at financial advisors and investors.
  • Facilitates order processing and execution including offering set ups and other trading desk administrative functions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of customer relations, marketing and communications.
  • Investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
  • Financial markets and products.
  • Company's working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
Skill in:
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software including email, graphics, presentation, spreadsheet, database, and project management software.  Including HTML and PDF document formatting.
  • Gathering, compiling and updating information and maintaining distribution lists.
  • Performing basic research.
  • Marketing and sales.
  • Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales to obtain customers' commitment to ideas, services or products.
  • Maintaining databases. 
Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.
  • Convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.
  • Ability to perform functions with high degree of precision and accuracy.
  • Work independently, under direction, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Provide a high level of customer service.
  • Project a positive, professional image both internal and with external business contacts.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or Business.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • FINRA Series 7 License or the ability to obtain within (90) ninety days of hire date.
