The CMM staff is seeking a Trader/Analyst (T/A) to enhance its institutional coverage of the investor community. In particular, the T/A will be assigned lead coverage of the hedge fund industry, working to assess industry performance and trends and to collect a range of views on broader macro, monetary policy and market developments from hedge fund managers. The T/A will also be expected to manage relationships with industry contacts, cultivate new relationships with other participants in the investor class, and liaise with economists and analysts within the Federal Reserve System also engaged in hedge fund analysis. As part of primary hedge fund coverage, the T/A will be expected to work closely with peers on the CMM staff to understand and analyze linkages between this investor base and other buy-side firms, including (but not limited to) the pension fund community. Finally, the T/A will be responsible for helping to integrate views in the leveraged buy-side community into the Markets Group’s market intelligence products.

Dovetailing with the analysis of hedge funds, the T/A will be asked to cover developments in the prime brokerage industry. In conjunction with staffs specifically focused on financial stability issues, the T/A will be asked to keep track of trends in the pricing and availability of leverage to institutional investors. Additionally, the T/A will be asked to cultivate and maintain relationships in the industry.

Finally, as with his or her per T/As on the staff, the T/A will be expected to participate in the Markets Group’s market monitoring responsibilities.
