Oil Trader - Black River Asset Management

Black River, formerly Cargill's proprietary trading operation Cargill Global Capital Markets, provides qualified investors with alternative investment strategies. Black River offers a wide range of investment products supported by experienced investment professionals, rigorous risk processes and a well-established global infrastructure.

The incumbent will be responsible for trading global crude oil and product markets, report to the Senior Managing Director of our commodity trading business. Trading will take place in several Black River commodity funds and may be both directional and relative value in nature. Risk will be deployed in financial markets only - no physical trading - although the ideal candidate will have experience in trading both physical and financial markets, and will have broad experience in crude and products globally. The incumbent will be expected to be very familiar with the fundamentals of supply/demand in the oil markets, and ideally will also bring expertise in other approaches to trading - such as statistical, technical, systematic or macro-economic. Location is open - ideally Minneapolis or Geneva, but New York or Cobham, England are also possible.

Principal Accountabilities:

* Manage capital from multiple Black River funds in the global oil markets
* Generate and implement profitable trade ideas in global oil markets within designated risk parameters
* Work with other commodity portfolio managers on cross market opportunities
* Work with analysts to further develop fundamental and systematic models to seek opportunities
* Collaborate with Black River colleagues in broad markets - fixed income, equity and foreign exchange
* Meet with investors periodically to market our funds and update existing investors

Requirements Required:

* Bachelors degree
* 5 + years experience in oil markets
* Fundamental oil market knowledge
* Technical or quantitative trading knowledge
* Broad industry contacts
* Proven profitable track record
* Strong mathematical skills
* Strong computer skills
* Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
* Ability to take initiative and work independently
* Strong attention to detail


* 7 + years experience in oil markets
