One of the largest sugar traders in the world seeks
commodity trader for their Miami/Latam office.

The Miami office is responsible for origination of sugar in Central America and Colombia and sales are made to various destinations in South America and Caribbean countries. Most of the shipments are handled in containers with few exceptions handling either break-bulk and/or bulk vessels.

General scope of the position:

- The trader shall be responsible for sugar marketing and origination and coordinate with outside offices regarding all sugar trading activities.
- These activities will be focused on marketing both Refined & Low Quality White and on occasion bulk raw sugar in different countries within the Western Hemisphere.
- The candidate shall be responsible for monitoring local Supply & Demand developments, domestic prices movements, and local sugar policies.
- The trader will be actively involved in plans to grow the sugar trading business and develop new markets and new customers.

Responsibilities:

- Negotiation and building relationships with sugar suppliers and destination buyers.
- Explore & develop markets and execute trades to capture profitable opportunities.
- Manage and report counterparty risks associated with contracts including in-depth understanding of customers, market-to-market risk, due diligence surrounding contract, and monitoring financial strength/performance of customers
- Constant monitoring of Supply & Demand developments and provide market information and analysis related to his/her respective countries.
- Recommend marketing and trading game plans.
- Work closely with the Trade Execution team to ensure excellent customer service.
Requirements

Required

· Bachelors Degree
· Minimum 5 years experience in commodity trading
· Experience in sugar trading is a preference
· Understanding of shipping logistics and documents terms
· Must be fluent in Spanish. (speaking,writing & reading).
· Hard working, able to cope with pressure.
· Shows high degree of autonomy and good work ethic
· Commercial and client oriented and strong marketing skills
· Able to work in a team, in diverse and international environment
· Initiator, curious and creative
· Accurate and pro active and willing to make decisions
· Willingness to travel 25-30% of time
