Client Guideline Monitoring:

* Responsible for daily guideline monitoring of affiliated insurance entities or institutions either via HIMCO's automated compliance applications or through manual monitoring and research.
* Research validity of flagged exceptions and escalate to supervisor. Work with compliance officer and portfolio managers to ensure violations are resolved timely.
* Document trade errors and monitor whether portfolio managers and traders have implemented appropriate mitigation procedures.
* Ensure restrictions are coded accurately and effectively.

Client Account Reviews:

* Responsible for careful reading and interpretation of account investment restrictions (e.g. Statutes, Investment Strategy Statements, and Investment Management Agreements and Client Guidelines), etc.).
* Prepare backup for senior compliance officer to sign periodic Client Certifications documenting that certain contractual obligations have been met.
* Job functions require interactions with Portfolio Managers, Client Services, Asset Liability Management and Strategy Analysis s, Sector Managers, Risk Management, Investment Systems, Financial Reporting, Law Department, Operations, and Internal Audit.
* Implement procedures to enhance the productivity, efficiency and scope of coverage of the Compliance Unit.
* Actively participate in HIMCO projects and initiatives (e.g. annual compliance program testing, system enhancements, new products and services, centralized reporting database).
* Knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, NY, CT, and other insurance statutes, is a plus.


HIMCO is currently seeking a highly motivated individual who is looking for an opportunity to develop a career within the compliance field. The Compliance Analyst will be a part of the Investment Compliance department and will be trained on exciting compliance initiatives. Qualified candidates will have the following requirements.

* 2-5 years of compliance or internal audit experience at an insurance company is required.
* Must have strong analytical skills.
* Demonstrated ability to automate routine functions.
* Proven ability to gain credibility and build relationships with portfolio managers, traders, and other investment professionals.
* Intermediate Word and Excel skills.
* Knowledge of Business Objects is a plus.
* Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
* Concise and clear writing skills.
* Bachelor's degree is required in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or related discipline.
* CFA or MBA a plus.
