Municipal Bond Trader

The Trader I position is primarily responsible for the execution of profitable orders for Municipal and Taxable Securities, focusing on short and intermediate term investments such as Agency discount notes, Treasury bills/notes, callable Agency notes, and Municipal bonds that are short to intermediate in maturity.

Additionally, the Trader I position communicates trade ideas to the sales staff and executes orders rather than taking risk by positioning inventory; assists in maintaining the underwriting files and may provide assistance during the underwriting as necessary.

The Trader I also provides assistance to other Traders while developing the experience to complete tasks independently.


Thorough knowledge of fixed income securities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Excellent developmental and analytical skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under extreme pressures with strict time frames.

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree, MSRB Series 52 and Series 53 licensing, and 1-2 years experience in fixed income trading or 7-8 years equivalent work experience.
